Stop Our Increasing Property Tax Burden in Kansas

The change in policy in the Kansas Property Appraisal Process has property values increasing the tax burden of all Kansas property owners.

The market Value of Property is Generated by the ORION CAMA software system. Those values are increasing taxes outside the MIL levy budget system. The tax burden is unsustainable for property owners in Kansas.

County Governments have empowered The Department of Revenue Department Division Property & Assessments to control appraisals of Property parcels on an annual base instead of a 6-year rotation.

The property value would increase minimally by a 10% increase in value applied each year. The Impact of changes has endangered Kansas Taxpayers of forfeitures of property. The impact of changes has transferred money supporting the local economy to government taxing authorities.

We urge the Kansas Legislature to Call a Special Session of Both Bodies to PASS a Constitutional Amendment known as 2024rs0014 a SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. ____, heard by the House & Senate Joint Tax Committee on June 17th that would amend section 1 of article 11 of the constitution of the state of Kansas by:

• The final taxable appraised value of real property shall not increase by more than 4%, or a lesser percentage as provided by law, in any taxable year
• Passing with two-thirds of the members of the House & Senate will place the Amendment on the November General Ballot for Kansas voters to decide
• Constitutional Amendment would become effective January 1, 2025
